About Us

Rainbow over EKVCThe Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center opened its doors on March 21, 2002.  Since that day we have had the pleasure of having 851 of Kentucky's Veterans call our facility home.  EKVC is one of three long-term care facilities operated by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs.  EKVC along with its sister facilities, The Thomson Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, KY and The Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY forms KDVA's Office of Kentucky Veterans Centers.

Our 120 bed long-term care facility is comprised of 3 nursing units.  Our 30 bed unit located on the first floor is for special needs/dementia care.  We have two nursing units upstairs for skilled/intermediate care that are 45 beds each.

EKVC is dedicated to promoting and maintaining a standard of excellence. Emphasis shall be placed on preservation of residents’ rights and assisting the residents in maintaining the highest possible level of independence.  This includes being treated as an individual, with the right to privacy and preservation of dignity.  We strive to provide quality care in a home-like environment.
